Attitudes of Aswan university faculty members towards using artificial intelligence-powered tools in information processing: a field study

Abstract

This study aims at exploring some examples of artificial intelligence-powered tools which can be used in information processing, and to identify the attitudes of Aswan University faculty members towards using them; So, it used the field method, relying on: interviews, and a questionnaire that was distributed to a random rated sample of Aswan University faculty members. The study found several results,such as:a lack of use by Aswan University faculty members of these tools(26.8%use, 73.2%don't use them), and the scientific specializations(71.8%)were more use than literary specializations(28.2%), and both of them use: web browsers, search engines, platforms of AI-powered tools, and these tools were used for: generating, editing, rephrasing, and translating content, serving and organizing research papers, analyzing quantitative and qualitative data, forming reference citations, determining citation percentage, dealing with digital files, children’s materials, education, And building websites to disseminate & publish information. The Study recommended that Arab library and information departments pay attention to teach artificial intelligence applications in that field; to prepare specialists who can work in the new digital labor market.
