Requirements for Employing Metaverse Technologies in Digital Marketing of Information Services in Misr Public Libraries services: An exploratory planning study

Abstract

The study aims to define the concept of metaverse technologies, its basic elements, characteristics, and supporting technologies, and to demonstrate the challenges and benefits of using metaverse technologies in digital marketing operations for information services, and the extent of integration of these technologies into libraries, in addition to monitoring the awareness of workers in the Misr Public libraries of metaverse technologies, and the extent of readiness to employ them in digital marketing for information services, with monitoring the most important advantages and challenges resulting from employing these technologies in digital marketing in Misr Public libraries, and presenting a proposed five-year strategic plan from 2025 to 2030. The study relied on the descriptive approach in its survey style, through standardized interviews and questionnaires as tools for collecting data. The study concluded that there are challenges facing the employment of metaverse technologies for digital marketing purposes in libraries, the most important of which are the high costs, equipment, and technologies of augmented reality and virtual reality, the study recommended the necessity of providing The budgets required for the Misr Public libraries to bear the costs of metaverse equipment and technologies, and to follow up on the implementation process and evaluate it continuously, in addition to developing a clear plan or policy for the implementation process, with the necessity of providing workshops and courses for library workers to raise awareness of modern technology.
