The research contributions of Egyptian physicians Indexed in PubMed from 1847- 2022: bibliometric study

Abstract

Egyptian doctors participated in the intellectual production of international physicians, other scientists and specialists in medicine, and Egyptian doctors also contributed to this production from 1847 until September 2022, based on "PubMed," one of the largest databases in medical sciences.

The scope of this bibliometric study of big data is to analyses the patterns of these publications, based on: topics, Journals' titles, authors, affiliation, country of publication, etc..

This study aims to present a real picture of Egyptian physicians share in comprehensive intellectual production after more than 170 years of research contributions in the medical and related fields. We published the first part of this study, covering the period form: October 2022-May 2023, The second part here is covering from 1847-September 2022. The period of this study have been divided into seven sub periods of time. The study found a number of results, most notably that the last sub period of study from 2003 to September 2022 was the most productive period of study for medical scientific research with 103,000 scientific research. The majority of intellectual production over the course of the study was in English, many academic bodies and institutions contributed to the intellectual production of Egyptian doctors, and many countries contributed to the publication of the scientific research of Egyptian doctors indexed in the PubMed database.
Method of research: We have used the bibliometric bibliographic approach to this research
We used bibliometric analysis to analyze the intellectual production of Egyptian physicians/researchers indexed from 1874, until September 2022.
