Social impact of Al-Azhar University research published on the Scopus database using Plum x: a bibliometric study

Abstract

Altmetrics have become an important requirement for scientists, researchers, and academic institutions to assess knowledge of the social impact of research, so this study aimed to know the social impact of Al-Azhar University research published on the Scopus database using the plum x, by collecting Al-Azhar University research data on Scopus for five main measures It is provided by the plum x tool, which is (the citation scale, the usage scale, the capture scale, the reference scale, the social media scale), and knowledge of the most areas, the most articles, and the most influential researchers at Al-Azhar University. alternative, using the bibliometric method The study found that the number of Al-Azhar University research published on the Scopus database from 1960 to 2021 was 14,156 researches divided into 27 subject areas, they obtained 147,282 citations, most of them were the field of chemistry with a percentage of 7.22% of the total citations, and they also obtained the total societal impact. The use scale is 843,035 uses, the pickup scale is 201,660 pickups, the signals scale is 826 signals, and the social media scale is 63,098 signals, and medical research has obtained the largest societal impact for each of the pickup scale by 3.30%, and for signals by 1, 50%, and for social media with a percentage of 6.52%, and the field of biochemistry had the highest societal impact of the use scale by 27.8%
