Research interest in SDGs at Alexandria University: An analytical study

Abstract

The study aims at analyzing research interest and trends in sustainable development goals (SDGs) at Alexandria University, in view of national strategic plans of the Egyptian government and the Ministry of Research and Higher Education in Egypt. To achieve this goal, the Content analysis method was used to analyze theses and protocols in the Internal Digital Library Database (IDLD) at the Digital Library Unit of Alexandria University. The study also related the indicators with those extracted from SciVal tool of analysis and measurement of internationally published research of the university. The total number of records that has been extracted and analyzed from IDLD reached 4469, of which 2440 protocols and 2029 theses. While the total number of extracted and analyzed records from Scival tool reached 3424. The results were concluded through the analysis of related policies and practices, and exploring their effect on scientific research at the university. In addition, linking the indicators with international research publication and exploring its effect on academic and industrial research collaboration at the university. To this framework, the study represents recommendations to the Ministry of Research and Higher Education, Alexandria University, in addition to scientists and researchers, which would positively affect this field.
