Abstract

Abstract:
The study aimed to show the role of the bibliographies of the system poetry in the intellectual history of Muslim scholars, and took from the bibliography of Al-Qudsi (d. 712 AH) and Ibn Al-Jazari (d. 833 AH) as a model. Each bibliography with an indication of the biographical aspect in them, with an indication of the number and quality of sciences in each bibliography, reflecting its role in the intellectual history of each of them during the era in which they appeared, whether in a particular science or several sciences. The study used the historical method and was familiar with the content analysis method. The results of the study showed the superiority of Ibn al-Qudsi’s bibliography in the number and quality of sciences included in books to indicate them, as the number of sciences reached (11) sciences, while Ibn al-Jazari limited his bibliography to one science without the other, which is the science of readings. In addition, Al-Jazari's bibliography was enhanced with more books, as it dealt with (58) books, while Al-Qudsi's bibliography only presented (19) books. In addition to the variation in the biographical aspect in each of the bibliographies of the study, as the general characteristic of each of them was the timid mention of the biographical data, which created ambiguity in standing on the biographical data as is the case in defining the bibliographic data in them.
