Scientific Journals at Al-Azhar University according the criteria of the Scopus database: an evaluative study

Abstract

All universities seek to include their scientific journals in international databases, as the presence of university scientific journals in international databases is one of the criteria applied in the classification of universities, and the databases set a list of criteria and conditions that must be met in the journal you wish to join, in order for it to be accepted and indexed in the database .therefore, this study aims to evaluate the current situation of Al-Azhar University journals according the criteria of the reference citation database (Scopus), To determine the validity of the university's journals for inclusion in this database, and to provide results and indicators that help improve the quality of the journals and qualify them for inclusion in the Scopus database, which paves the way for Al-Azhar University journals to be presented on the map of international publishing and reflects on the university's position in international rankings.
The study reached many results, the most important of which is the total compatibility of Al-Azhar University journals with Scopus’s criteria is 57.6%, and that there is a discrepancy in the percentages of compatibility of the study journals with Scopus’s criteria ranged between 82.8% and 41.4%, The study presented many recommendations that help to develop and improve the quality of scientific journals at Al-Azhar University and qualify them to join the international databases.
